*Adolf Hitler Brass Folding Pocket Knife – Postwar “Drittes Reich” Commemorative Souvenir (Mid-20th Century)*

This is a mid-20th century commemorative pocket knife featuring Nazi-era imagery, most likely produced in the 1950s–1970s for the postwar militaria and tourist souvenir market. The knife has solid brass handles, with one side bearing a full-length relief portrait of Adolf Hitler in uniform, above the inscription “ADOLF HITLER,” flanked by a stylised eagle and oak-leaf wreath. The reverse side shows a maritime scene in raised detail, including a warship, lighthouse, and shoreline buildings.

The knife has two blades: the main blade is etched with Hitler’s facsimile signature, a swastika within an oak-leaf wreath, and the phrase “DRITTES REICH.” The smaller blade is plain. While some knives with modest propaganda themes were produced and sold during the Nazi period, this example shows several features—such as the theatrical full-figure portrait, decorative symbolism, and stylised etching—that are characteristic of postwar fantasy items. The prominent use of “Drittes Reich” and facsimile signatures in this style was not common on genuine WWII-era knives and is more consistent with reproduction pieces made for the collector market. These knives were not official Nazi issue and were not connected to the 1933 election, despite occasional claims to the contrary.

Measurements:
Approx. 8.5 cm closed; 18.5 cm with both blades extended. Main blade approx. 6 cm; secondary blade approx. 4.3 cm.

*Condition*
The brass handle has an even age patina with minor surface wear. The decorative portrait and reverse scene remain sharply defined. The main blade retains its etched decoration, with light oxidation and surface spotting. Both blades open and close securely. No damage or repairs noted. Please refer to photographs as part of the condition report.
