~ Frank Wesson Two Trigger Civil War Military Carbine in 44 .Cal Rimfire ~

This is a 24 inch barrel, First Type Carbines (with no extractor) which were produced between about 1859-65.
The gun has the second form barrel address for the Type 1. The barrel marked FRANK WESSON WORCESTER MASS. PATD OCT 25 1859 and NOV 11 1862.
The Serial number 3978 on underside of trigger guard puts production at between about 1863-1865.
The total military production of all types is not known for sure but estimated to be between 4000-5000. These were used by both sides in the civil war.

~ Condition ~

The gun is in good working order with tight lock up and crisp action. 24" octagon barrel with two position leaf sight, bore is pitted but shows rifling.
Metal aged to brown patina with some pitting, missing sling swivel from barrel and stock. Stock worn but sound.
This is a very good Military Carbine that’s seen action.
