An Early 19th Century Percussion Pistol

This is a cavalry piece with walnut chequered grips and solid-build steel components.

There are no visible marks and stamps on the piece.

The steel barrel is fitted with both a front and rear sight.

The only brass parts of the pistol are the lockplate attachment bar, the plates on both sided of the pin slot and the ramrod fitting.

The pistol is fitted with a sling hook towards the muzzle.

This may be a privately purchased colonial piece.

~ Dimensions ~

The bore is .72 calibre.

The barrel’s length is 8 ¼ inches (21 cm) and the overall length of the piece is 13 ¾ inches (35 cm).

It weighs 1.10 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The pistol half cocks, cocks and releases with an issue on holding the full cock.

The bore has some amount of surface rust on the inside and age pitting on the outside.

The woodwork remains clean, crack free with minimum age ware.

The ramrod is missing.
