The axe has a crescent shaped head with a scrolled quatrefoil top spike & features etchings of a bust of a noble man and sunburst, whilst the octagonal form shaft has bass relief decoration of foliate scrolls.

~ Dimensions ~

The axe head is 5.5 inches (13.3cm) wide. The axe has a length of 22 inches (cm). It weighs 1.7 kg.

~ Condition ~

The axe steel has blackened over age, giving it a fine black patina. The metal is in good order with a degree of pitting. The engravings on the blade are worn towards the clean edge.
