Here we have a wonderful bayonet manufactured during World War Two, this is one of the last ever 1907 Bayonet contracts ever issues. This contract was issued in 1943 to the Wilkinson Sword Company.

This bayonet is exquisitely marked, it has the ‘1907’ pattern mark, the code and initials of the Wilkinson Sword Company ‘S294 and WSC’ and the date mark ‘5 43’.

On the opposite side of the blade there is the broad arrow acceptance mark and a cross to show it was sold off as surplus.

The bayonet is in wonderful condition with hardwood scales and blackened fittings.

The scabbard is its original leather and steel with the marking ‘m/44’.

The frog has been painted white to look like a dress frog but you can still see the original khaki cover on the reverse as well as some writing, ‘L/s BROWNE No ‘I’ MLSG.M LIGHT’.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 17 inches (43 inches) long.

The bayonet is 22 inches (56 cm) long.

The bayonet in its scabbard is 22 inches (56 cm) long.

The bayonet weighs 795 g.

~ Condition ~

This bayonet is in good condition for its age, there is some blackening to the blade towards the hilt.

The frog has been painted but the scabbard and bayonet are in good shape.

The markings are all clear.
