The Colt Peacemaker Buntline .22 "Second Amendment Commemorative" revolver, produced in 1977, is a limited-edition firearm honouring the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment. Only 3,020 units were manufactured. This commemorative model is based on the Colt Single Action Army revolver, famously known as the "Peacemaker," which was introduced in 1873 and became an iconic firearm of the American West. The "Buntline" variant, characterized by its extended barrel, gained popularity through tales of lawmen like Wyatt Earp, though historical evidence of such associations is debated. The 1977 commemorative edition pays tribute not only to this legendary firearm but also to the enduring significance of the Second Amendment in American history.

This example features the highly sought-after 7.5" barrel, fitted with a blade front sight and a grooved rear sight integral to the frame. It is the longer barrel version of the Colt Single Action Army, the serial number G0848RB, is stamped ahead of the trigger guard, confirming its 1977 manufacture. The barrel has a polished steel finish, while other components are blued steel. The grip frame is adorned with fine scroll engraving on the underside.

The top of the barrel bears the classic one-line Colt address, with "Peacemaker Buntline .22" marked on the right side and “The right to keep and bear arms” on the left. The two-piece off-white plastic grips feature Colt emblems on each panel. The revolver is housed in a finely crafted wooden presentation case, lined with deep red velvet, and includes a wooden plaque engraved with “United States Constitution Amendment II: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” It is accompanied by original documentation including the service card, limited edition historical card, Colt heritage booklet, and a list of authorised dealers.

This revolver is highly collectible given its craftsmanship, historical connections, and limited production. Its designation as a Curio & Relic by the ATF further underscores its significance as a collectible piece.
