A British Royal Navy divers knife with scabbard dating to the mid 20th century, maybe 1940’s - 1960’s.

The knife has a black bakelite handle with brass fittings, a two edge blade and a push in gilt brass scabbard with belt slot.

The blade is not named.

The scabbard is stamped ‘Non Magnetic, A.P. 6261’ (short for ‘Admiralty Pattern no. 6261’).

~ Dimensions ~

The blade has a length of 19cm (7 ½ inches) and a width of 4cm (1 ½ inches).

The knife has a total length of 33.5cm (13 ¼ inches).

The scabbard measures 21cm (8 ¼ inches) in length.

Together they weigh 860g.

~ Condition ~

The blade has developed a patina in parts with negligible pitting, a few small spots of rust near the handle and tip and two nicks again near the handle to one edge, but overall is in a decent condition.

The handle has a couple of small chips round the base but is otherwise in good condition.

The scabbard has general light wear from age and use with a few light scratches.
