During the Third Reich period numerous blade manufacturers produced customized, private purchase versions of the K98 bayonets for dress wear. The dress bayonets were manufactured with a long model, (24.5cm), blade for enlisted personnel and a shorter, (20cm), blade for NCO’s and Officers.

Private purchase long model dress bayonet. 24.5cm long nickel/silver plated blade with wide fullers. Nice clean blade. Maker marked to F.W. Holler, Solingen. Black chequered bakelite grips held in place by two dome headed rivets. Single-edged blade. Bird-beak pommel.

The F. W. Höller Waffenfabrik company was founded in 1866. It registered with the Solingen authorities on June 5, 1883. Höller began as a manufacturer of edged weapons and cutlery. Throughout the 1800s and First World War: bayonets, sabers and swords were all being manufactured. The thermometer trademark was registered in 1905. During the Third Reich era, Höller was a massive manufacturer and specialized in a wide array of edged weapons. The company dissolved in December 1974.

*Condition*
This dress bayonet is in good condition. The press stud works well. It is without scabbard. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
