*German, Hunting Cutlass - Jagdnicker-Style Knife, Etched Solingen Blade, Antler Grip, With Leather Sheath - Modern Copy*
A modern hunting cutlass or Jagdnicker-style decorative knife, measuring 36.3 cm overall with a 25.2 cm bright-polished blade. The blade is etched on one face with a traditional Alpine hunting scene—mountains, pine forests, deer and roe buck—within scrolling foliate panels. The reverse is plain except for a lightly etched “Solingen – Germany” mark near the ricasso.
The hilt comprises a cast brass guard with shell motif and acorn finials, polished metal ferrule, and a natural antler grip capped with a cast brass pommel. The construction is modern, with the tang secured by a slotted nut beneath the pommel cap (visible to the top). Supplied with a black leather-covered scabbard with plated terminal.
Historical Notes: These hunting-themed cutlasses are modern decorative pieces inspired by traditional German hunting sidearms of the 19th and early 20th centuries. While the etched Solingen mark reflects the long association of the city with quality blade-making.
*Condition* Generally very clean and bright. The blade retains a high polish with crisp etching. Brass hilt components with minor age staining. Scabbard intact with small scuffs. Presents well. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
