~ French Prisoner Of War Carved Mutton Bone Stand ~
A nice piece of art in the form of a piece of mutton bone carved by a French prisoner of war.
The piece having been acquired from a Portchester collection.
The piece has a fish tail form and is self standing as it has a stand to the reverse (also made of bone and also carved). This is attached with several metal pins.
The front of the piece is carved with a sea scene with whale and ship and is also carved with images of leaves a cross and a heart.
The reverse is carved with linear decoration and leaves.

The piece measures 4.5cm (1 ¾ inches) wide, 9cm (3 ½ inches) tall and has a depth of 4cm (1 ½ inches).
It weighs 39g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in a very nice condition with only a few scratches and light chips but no real damage.
