~ Japanese 17th Century Tanto Sword With Later White Metal Mounts And Scabbard ~

The blade is an early piece, late 17th century, with a signed tang .

It is fitted with early 20th century silver coloured, white metal handle and scabbard with animals and people in high relief.

~ Condition ~

The blade is very good, a few areas of darkening, with a clear wavy hamon. The tang is rusted. The scabbard and hilt are in good order but it does need a peg.

~ Dimensions ~

The tanto has an overall length of 35 cm (13.75 inches), a blade length of 23 cm (9 inches) and a total length when in the scabbard of 38 cm (15 inches). It weighs 575g.
