Helena Tynell (1918–2016) was a notable Finnish glass designer. She designed many classics for the Finnish ‘Riihimäen Lasi’ glassworks.
Some of the most well-known objects are the sculptural decanters produced between 1969 – 1971.
This particular decanter is based on the character ‘Isoäiti’ (Grandma) from the Finnish author Zacharias Topelius’ children story ”Small Matti”.
There were four characters from this series: Isoäiti (Grandma), Isoisä (Grandpa),Pikku Matti (Small Matti) and Maaherra (Governor).
This version is in blue glass with a clear glass stopper.
It has its original factory sticker.
