~ c1942 Chelsea Ships Bell Clock & Barometer Pair Retailed By Abercrombie & Fitch ~
A handsome pair of a maritime clock and a barometer. The clock has a striking on the gong movement, brass barrel body and a brushed steel dial. The face bears the words "Abercrombie & Fitch Co" and "Chelsea Ship's Bell".
The barometer is similar but simply reads "Holosteric Barometer". It also has an inbuilt thermometer, a nice touch.
The serial number of 326953 dates the clock to around 1942.
~ Condition ~
Both pieces are in good working order. The previous owner of the clock disabled the striking feature by bending the hammer wire arm back. It is very easy to sets this if you wish, access is by unscrewing the 3 larger screws on the face plate.
A replacement key is included.
~ Dimensions ~
Both pieces have a diameter of 18.5 cm (7.25 inches), a face diameter of 13.5 cm (5.25 inches) and a depth of 9 cm (3.5 inches). The total weight is 7.6 Kg.
