A Second World War period Husun sextant by Henry Hughes & Son Ltd with brass fittings and accessories. Serial number is 36489 and dated 1943 in a mahogany case. The primary use of a sextant is to measure the angle between an astronomical object and the horizon for the purposes of celestial navigation.
