*British, WW1, 1907 Pattern Bayonet by Wilkinson, with Original Leather Scabbard, Dated May 1917*

A fine original British Pattern 1907 bayonet, designed for use with the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) rifle. This example was manufactured in May 1917 by Wilkinson Sword, one of the prominent wartime contractors.

The blade measures approximately 43.5 cm, with an overall length of 55.5 cm. It retains a bright finish and shows no nicks or major damage, a testament to careful preservation. The fullered blade is stamped on the ricasso with a faint crown over "G.R." (for Georgius Rex, King George V), the pattern date "1907", the manufacturing date "5 '17", and "Wilkinson". The obverse ricasso bears the bend test "X" mark, broad arrow government ownership mark, and multiple Enfield inspection marks — though many are faint from service wear and cleaning.

The hilt features standard wooden grips, secured with two screws, showing typical age-related wear and minor cracking. The crossguard and pommel have a uniform patina, and the locking button appears functional.

Accompanied by its original steel-mounted leather scabbard, which shows service dents and surface wear, notably a dent to the steel throat. The leather body is intact with expected scuffs and marks from use.

Condition report: Overall very good blade condition, honest wear to grips and scabbard consistent with age and service. Scabbard has a dent to throat. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

A well-preserved May 1917 Pattern 1907 bayonet by Wilkinson with scabbard, showing good blade condition and original field character.
