This is a 2-band percussion musket that is able to cock and dry-fire. The Musket has its maker’s name, Joseph Bourne, London, inscribed on the top of the barrel with the numbers “559/84” as well.

Percussion muskets use the percussion cap ignition system which replaced the flintlock mechanism in the 19th century. They offered improved reliability and ease of use. These muskets played a significant role in military conflicts before being superseded by breech-loading weapons.
