~ Bob Bindle American Hand Carved Wooden Decoy Duck ~
The decoy was made by Bob Biddle of Media, PA. and he has been carving for over 40 years.
The duck is painted with a grey face with a green stripe & black spots, a brown body with dark green wings and details to the tail painted in black. The eyes are made from glass and are coloured black.
The duck is mounted onto a wooden keel placed down the middle of the base, allowing it to float along the water. The base is stamped "RGB" and written in pen "From my personal hunting rig, Bob Bendall".
A note from Bob Biddle himself:
'I made that decoy which is a widgeon or also known as a baldpate. It was part of my hunting rig
that was used on Currituck Sound, Knotts Island, North Carolina in the early 1980s. It is carved from NJ white cedar, hollow, and with a keel as the sound there can get awfully rough'.
~ Dimensions ~
The duck has a length of 15 inches (38cm), a width of 6 inches (15.25cm) and a height of 7.5 inches (19cm). It weighs 770g.
~ Condition ~
The duck is in excellent condition, there are a few cracks due to paint shrinkage.
