~ 1827 Pattern Royal Artillery Sword of Lieutenant Colonel D.A.D.J. Bethell ~

The blade bears the Royal Artillery coat of arms on one side and the royal one on the other.

The ricasso is stamped "PROVED" and the knuckle guard appears to be stamped "Fenton Ltd Sheffield", there is a typed label attached to the sword.

The piece comes with its original brown leather scabbard, frog and canvas cover (named).

The label reads:

'This sword belonged to Ernest Francis Cutcliffe. It was lent to his friend from Nutfield Lt. Colonel DADJ Berhell RA (Drew) for use during his army career. It was returned to Ernest's son Cyril Michael Cutcliffe after Drew died.'

~ Condition ~

As seen in the pictures the sword is in good condition as are its fittings, with some expected age wear.
