~ WW2 SAS Parachute Qualification Badge ~

A rare Second World War SAS parachute qualification badge.

The badge has embroidery work of an open parachute in mid blue and grey upon a pair of wings of a deeper blue and grey. The
image is embroidered onto black felt with black cotton backing.

The badge was worn on the right shoulder after qualification, moving to the left breast after an ‘active service’ jump.

This badge was designed by Lieutenant Jock Lewes during the Second World War and is based upon the ancient Egyptian Ibis wings,
which Lewes had observed in the Shepheard’s Hotel, Cairo when stationed there.

~ Dimensions ~

The badge measures 8cm by 3cm.

~ Condition ~

The badge is in a very nice condition with no wear to the image and no discolouration/staining.
