This is an original piece. A circular aluminium mess badge which depicts a sphinx sitting upright.

~ HMS Taciturn ~

HMS Taciturn was a british submarine of the third group of the T class. She was launched on 7th June 1944 and commissioned on 8th October 1944. She has been the only ship of the Royal Navy to bear the name Taciturn.

~ Dimensions ~

It has a total height of approx 8 ¾ inches (22.4cm) and a total width of approx 6 ¾ inches (17.4cm)
Weight approx 1.01Kg.

~ Condition ~

The crest is in fair condition. The aluminium casting has a piece chipped off the top crown which is apparent in the photos, otherwise the casting is complete. The paintwork has nearly all disappeared.
