- WW1 SMLE No.1 MkIII* Lee Enfield dated 1918 -

The Lee–Enfield or Enfield is a bolt-action, magazine-fed repeating rifle that served as the main firearm of the military forces of the British Empire and Commonwealth during the first half of the 20th century, and was the British Army's standard rifle from its official adoption in 1895 until 1957. The WWI versions are often referred to as the "SMLE", which is short for the common "Short, Magazine, Lee–Enfield" variant.

This rifle has been clearly used in combat. It features serial number 59885 on the main components of the rifle along with the relevant deactivation stamps, which are commonly seen with dects. The volley-sights move freely and the magazine releases without hassle. The trigger moves under spring tension and it can not be dry fired.

*Condition*

The rifle is in reasonable condition for its age and varied use. There are slight signs of pitting on the rifle and small dents in the woodwork of the Lee Enfield - again to be expected - although this is a fine example of the famous and well recognized SMLE. Please see the photos as they form part of our condition report.
