~ WW1 Deactivated Long Service Turkish Mauser Rifle ~

A variant of the most iconic rifle ever produced, the Turkish Mauser served the armed forces of the Ottoman Empire during the first World War and proved to be a formidable opponent against the British Empire’s forces at Gallipoli.

Turkey adopted the Mauser rifles in 1887 and updated the models as the technology progressed. They’ve had examples of almost all variants of the rifle long after WW2.

The most known type used is the Gewehr 98, which was send as a war aid by Germany and modified to the Turkish requirements.

Our example bears the old serial numbers of “K6162” on the magazine plate (a pair of them), on the top of the bolt frame and on the rear sight.

The top of the barrel is restamped later with serial number 10698 and with the Ankara Arsenal logo and dated 1940.

Some period repairs have been done to the wooden frame, so the rifle had a very long service period.

The bolt slides back but will not cock or strips and the trigger moves but it and the bolt are not engaged, as per the EU/UK 2018 deactivation specs.

~ Condition ~

The rifle is used condition as expected for its age and service. Please relate to the pictures.
