~ Victorian Watercolour Of HMS Victory Firing A Broadside In Portsmouth Harbour ~

The painting is in subtle evening sunsets colours with Lord Nelsons flagship firing an upper deck saluting broadside. To the left is a further three decker ship of the line.

The scene is based on a Northwards view of Portsmouth harbour with Gosport to the left and Portsdown Hill in the distance.

Judging by the two, small, steam, paddlewheel ships the piece dates to around 1840.

The painting is signed indistinctly to the lower right.

The painting is present in a glazed frame with a single lined mount.
