~ Victorian Pre-1881 First Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteer Cap Badge ~

Scottish 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteer Corps Victorian helmet plate, dating from circa 1881-1901. It is a scarce die-stamped blackened brass crowned Maltese cross, with lions between the arms, and bearing the circlet "FIRST LANARKSHIRE R.V.C" with a strung bugle at the voided center. It has three loops and is in very good condition. This corps was formed in 1859, and later became the 5th Battalion Cameronians in 1908.
