A mid-20th century hunting knife with a 12.5cm clip-point blade, hollow ground with a false swedge and no visible maker’s mark. The handle features dark hardwood scales with finger grooves, separated by red and brass fibre spacers, and finished with a brass guard and peened pommel — a construction style commonly found on mass-produced sporting knives from the 1960s–70s, typically manufactured in the United States or even Japan.

The knife is housed in its original leather sheath, double-stitched and riveted, with a belt loop and press-stud retaining strap. The fastener is stamped “EXWOO DOT”, with “DOT” referring to the known U.S. brand of directional snap fasteners. The meaning of “EXWOO” is unclear, but it may represent a factory or export code. One likely possibility is that it denotes “Export Woolworths”, indicating the knife and sheath were supplied to Woolworths stores during the post-war retail boom.

These types of knives were often sold unbranded through large retail chains or sporting goods outlets, designed for general-purpose outdoor use.

Excellent used condition. Blade is clean and retains original profile with only minor age wear. Brass fittings show light tarnishing and green verdigris near the guard.
