A deactivated Turkish Mauser Model 1938 bolt-action rifle, chambered in 7.92×57mm Mauser, dated 1944. Produced at the Kırıkkale Arsenal (K. Kale), Ankara. Serial number 194892, with most visible numbers matching. 730mm barrel, 1,250mm overall length. Retains its ladder rear sight, front sight hood, and cleaning rod. Original wood stock with attractive patina and handling marks consistent with service use.
Historical Note: In 1944, the Kırıkkale Arsenal produced only around 49,000 Mauser Model 1938 rifles as part of Turkey’s ongoing effort to standardise its mixed Mauser inventory to a single 7.92mm pattern. Many of these rifles incorporated refurbished receivers and components from earlier German Gewehr 98 rifles, acquired during and after the First World War. By the mid-1940s, Turkey remained neutral but modernised its small arms in preparation for possible involvement in WWII. These rifles continued in service until the 1950s, when Turkey joined NATO. Matching and complete 1944-dated examples are relatively scarce, as most remained in Turkey or were arsenal-refinished in later years.
