The Enfield Pattern 1853 Tower carbine rifle-musket was used by the British Empire from 1853 to 1867. Of all the British arms, the Enfield Pattern rifle-musket is one of the most well known and highly regarded weapons.

The lock plate has been stamped with VR beneath the Queens crown, 1855 Tower, and a pair of inspectors’ marks. On the left hand side of the barrel there are a number of inspector and proof marks, as can be seen within the pictures. The rear sight is also proof marked. The butt stock bears a BO arsenal mark. The barrel features 3 grooves.

~ Dimensions ~

The length of the barrel is 50cm, and of the entire item 90cm – a carbine rifled musket. The greatest width of the item is 13cm, and the weight is 2.9kg.

~ Condition ~

The rifled musket is in fairly good condition, with some small nicks in the wood. The metal shows signs of patina. The weapon can hold at half-cocked and fully cocked with a strong spring. The bore is rust and pitting free.
