~ Sterling Silver Music Box by The St James Company c1979 - Ltd Ed. 326/500 ~

A gorgeous sterling silver music box Issued for Christmas 1979 by The St James House Company.

The music box is of sterling silver in oval form standing on four claw feet.

It is plain to the sides with a decorative border top and bottom.

The lid has a sunburst decoration with a silver gilt motif to the centre showing three sailing ships at sea.

When the lid of the box is open the box plays the tune of ‘I Saw Three Ships’.

The piece is hallmarked to the inside of the lid (in two places) for sterling silver, London, 1979 and has the makers mark of The St James Company.

The piece was made in a limited edition of 500 of which this is no.326. There is a small plaque to the inside of the lid reading ‘326/500’.

The music box would have originally come in a presentation box with certificate but sadly these are no longer present.

~ Dimensions ~

The music box measures 7.5cm (3 inches) wide, 5.5cm (2 ¼ inches) deep with a height of 4.5cm (1 ¾ inches).

It weighs 240g.

~ Condition ~

The music box is in a very nice condition with only very minimal surface wear from use and age but no major scratches or damage.

The box is in good working order and plays well.
