~ Spanish Model 1752 Miquelet Lock Musket Converted To Percussion ~

Miquelet lock is a modern term used by collectors and curators for a type of firing mechanism used in muskets and pistols. It is a distinctive form of snaplock, originally as a flint-against-steel ignition form, once prevalent in the Ottoman Empire, Italy, Spain, Portugal, North Africa, the Balkans and throughout Spain's colonies from the late 16th to the mid 19th centuries.

This piece, like many others, has been converted to percussion, so it had a very long life.

It has an almost half hexagonal barrel with gold inlays named Pedro Guisasola.

It comes with its ramrod and has a very unusual stock but.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in fair condition for its age with surface cracks and one splinter (in front of the trigger guard) on its wooden stock.
The mechanism is worn so it can't keep half cock anymore but it occasionally keeps full cock.
A very nice, historical piece over 250 years old.
