A fine and visually striking example of a Spanish flintlock holster pistol, dating to the late 18th century (circa 1760–1790). Likely of Ripoll or Eibar manufacture, this pistol exemplifies the ornate craftsmanship associated with high-status Spanish firearms of the period.

The pistol features a walnut full stock extensively inlaid with brass scrollwork and pierced panels in classic Iberian floral and geometric motifs. The barrel and lockplate are decorated with further chiselled and engraved foliate ornamentation, extending along the top flat of the barrel and the lock’s borders. The flintlock action is complete and cocks correctly, with engraved detailing to the hammer and frizzen. The brass trigger guard, ramrod fittings, and butt cap are all finely engraved, the pommel cap set with a red cabochon stone (likely glass or paste) — a typical feature of Spanish dress pistols.

The iron ramrod is present and correct, showing age and patina consistent with the piece. Overall, the pistol represents a blend of functionality and elaborate decoration, most likely produced for a wealthy civilian or officer.

Condition
Good condition overall for age. Stock with some age-related wear, minor surface losses, and a stable hairline crack near the lock mortise. Brass inlays are largely intact, with occasional lifting or movement typical of age. Lock mechanism is complete and cocks firmly. Metal parts show light oxidation and surface pitting, particularly to the frizzen. Ramrod appears original and is a good fit.
