*Spanish, Circa 1860-1870, 8 Shot 9mm Pinfire Revolver with Folding Trigger, Made by Zulaica Eibar using Lefaucheux system, Obsolete Calibre*
9mm, 3" Barrel.
Marked: "Zuliaca, Eibar", Serial "No 23" - marked 26 on the frame, the folding trigger and on the chamber.
A fine Spanish made 9mm round barrel 8 shot pin-fire revolver with folding trigger. Manufactured by Zuliaca, Eibar, Spain using the Lafaucheux patent design, which during the 19th century had a sizable gun industry. The 3 inch barrel with bead foresight and steel ejector rod to the right side. Finely chequered wooden grips. Swing up side-loading gate. Folding trigger which would make it easier to fit into a pocket. No proof marks.
Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and son Eugene designed the pistol. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries and police.

This is in excellent condition and cocks and dry-fires. The gun shows age related wear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
