*Soviet Union, c.1960s–80s, Makarov PM Pistol Lanyard, Original Issue*

An original Cold War–period Soviet pistol lanyard of the type issued with the PM Makarov automatic pistol and, in some branches, the APS Stechkin. Constructed from the classic olive-green cord with a tightly woven herringbone outer sleeve, it measures approximately 80 cm in length. Both ends are fitted with natural tan leather reinforcements, stitched in the typical Soviet square-and-cross pattern. One end carries the correct Soviet steel loop-and-retaining-pin clip for attaching to the pistol’s lanyard ring; the opposite end has the original leather wrist-loop with press-stud fastener. All components match period manufacture, with no modern replacements.

Historical Note:
Lanyards of this pattern were standard equipment for Soviet officers, Militsiya personnel, KGB operatives and naval ratings issued with the 9×18mm Makarov PM from the 1950s onward. Designed to prevent loss of the sidearm during field duties, vehicle work or crowd-control operations, the simple but robust construction remained largely unchanged throughout the Cold War. Original examples have become increasingly desirable as many surviving PM pistols on the market now lack their issued accessories.

*Condition*
The cord retains strong colour with only minor handling wear. Leather sections show honest age toning and light creasing, fully intact stitching, and working press-stud. Metal clip remains functional with light service oxidation. A clean and entirely original example with no repairs. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
