~ Snider Enfield Model 1861 Rifle B.S.A. Co Dated 1871 Converted To Blunderbuss ~

The piece is a shortened standard Snider Enfield rifle with an attached brass blunderbuss muzzle, its was probably converted for prison guard duty.
The lockplate bears Queen Victoria’s crown, the makers name B.S.A. Co and the date 1871.
The top of the barrel is engraved 255 Holborn, London.

~ Condition ~
The stock is quite bruised, there is a split over the rearmost screw on the left side. The piece half cocks and cocks on a moderate spring.

~ Dimensions ~
The blunderbuss is 93 cm (36.5 inches) in total length with a 46 cm (18 inches) barrel.
