Scabbarded 1840 Brunswick Bayonet

Out of stock

SKU: MLJA_873647910 Category:

Here we have one of the defining sword bayonets of the British armed forces, the Brunswick bayonet that emerged in the early to mid 19th century.

It is a long double edged fullered blade with a brass hilt and crossguard.

The blade is a leaf blade, its profile tapering before widening just before the tip.

Unfortunately this bayonet has lost all of its markings presumably in polishing.

This bayonet does come with its scabbard, a rarity in itself.

The bayonet is marked with the crowned head, similar to the one on display at the National Army Museum.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 21 ¾ inches (55.5cm) long.

The crossguard is 4 inches (10 cm) across.

The bayonet is 26 inches (66 cm) long.

The bayonet weighs 1.2 Kg.

~ Condition ~

The bayonet is in good condition with a firm construction and a fully functional mechanism.

This bayonet shows no markings aside from very faint traces on the ricasso and the bottom of the grip.
