A good example of a 1848 Pattern Royal Navy cutlass with a blade marked on the ricasso ’16’ beneath the crown.

There are no other visible marks and stamps on the piece.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade length is 72 cm and the overall length of the cutlass is 84 cm.
Its width is 16 cm and it weighs 1.5 kg.

~ Condition ~

The blade has quite a number of small nicks but it remains clean overall.

The painting on the basket and grip is chipped, as expected for its age.
