The 1845 pattern cutlass is one of the most iconic British Naval Swords, issued to sailors in the British Royal Navy during the mid-19th century. It served as a versatile, close-quarters weapon for sailors for boarding actions, repelling enemies, and maintaining order aboard ships. The design of the cutlass was influenced by practical considerations for maritime combat, making it a distinctive and iconic weapon associated with naval history.

This cutlass features a 74cm (overall 87cm), slightly curved, single-edged blade with a double-edged spear point. It is complete with its original scabbard which appears to have been repaired at some point.
