This round would consist of a projectile with an illuminating payload. When launched, it is designed to reach a certain altitude before deploying a parachute to slow its descent. As it descends, the round releases a flare which provides a bright light source to illuminate the surrounding area. This would be particularly useful for night-time operations, aiding the visibility and effectiveness of friendly forces during low-light conditions. This deactivated round is dated 1957 and comes with original carrying case.
