The Brodie helmet was designed in 1915 and was made famous for its use throughout World War 1. These helmets were used for decades after the war and are still used today in some countries. Many variants of the Brodie helmet have been made since and are still active. This particular helmet was that of a Police officer during World War 2. The Helmet is dated 1939 and reads “Police” clearly along the front. Inside the helmet are the markings “UV II”, “HBH 1939”. HBH stands for “Harrison Bros & Howson” which manufactured Brodie helmets from 1938 to 1943.
