The Russian or rather Soviet Army took care to issue good cleaning and maintenance equipment with their small arms. One of the items issued with the famous Russian submachine guns of WW2 is a combination tool including a screwdriver and a wrench for cleaning implements. It is similar to the well-known combination tool issued with Mosin rifles and carbines, but it does not have the dual firing pin gauges. The notch in the side is used to screw the standard Russian bore brushes and cleaning jags onto the cleaning rods. The jags and brushes have flats milled into them for this purpose.
