This is an original Lee-Metford Bayonet Pattern 1888 Mk2 bayonet. This bayonet appears to have the regimental markings 22 G.O.A with the number 637 beneath on the pommel. On the reverse is the ‘sold out of military service’ mark. The blade bears the date 1894, the manufacturers name “Wilkinson, London” and the Queen Victoria royal cipher. The other side of the blade has a Wilkinson manufacturer’s mark and a bending mark X. This bayonet comes with an original scabbard that features the Enfield manufacturer’s mark and is dated 1903.
*Condition*
The bayonet is in great condition for its age and usage with some minor pitting in areas and light marks. The grip is strong and undamaged and all markings are clear. The scabbard is in excellent condition for its age with no damage and clear markings. Please see pictures for more detail.
