*Original, rare Austro-Hungarian Naval Dagger and Brass Scabbard, 1914 'K.U.K Marine Hapsburg'*

This is a beautiful Austria-Hungary Naval Officer’s Dress Dagger or Dirk - engraved ' K.u.K Marine Hapsburg 1914'. The workmanship is outstanding. The rhombic blade is finely etched with vines, naval motifs and the Austro-Hungarian coat of arms. Bakelite grip with Brass knot pommel. The brass scabbard shows an anchor and at the base Neptune and has two suspension rings.

The Austro-Hungarian Navy or Imperial and Royal War Navy (German: kaiserliche und königliche Kriegsmarine, in short k.u.k. Kriegsmarine, Hungarian: Császári és Királyi Haditengerészet) was the naval force of Austria-Hungary. The k.u.k. Kriegsmarine came into being after the formation of Austria-Hungary in 1867, and ceased to exist in 1918 upon the Empire's defeat and subsequent collapse at the end of World War I. By 1914, the k.u.k. Kriegsmarine had a peacetime strength of 20,000 personnel, seeing action in the Boxer Rebellion and other conflicts prior to World War I. During most of World War I, the Allied Powers maintained the Otranto Barrage to bottle up the k.u.k. Kriegsmarine in the Adriatic Sea.

The Hapsburg dynasty, ruled the Austro-Hungarian Empire, had a long and illustrious history in Europe. In August 1914, the K.u.K had three pre dreadnought Hapsburg class battleships, the Arpad, Babenberg & Habsburg. The three ships served as the 4th Battle Division.

It is very rare to find an original WW1 K.u.K Marine Hapsburg dagger.
