*Late Victorian Antique Walking Stick with Carved Bouquet Handle*
Charming c.1900 carved bouquet walking stick with ebonised shaft and horn ferrule – a decorative and functional late Victorian/Edwardian example.
A finely crafted antique walking stick featuring a carved wooden handle modelled as a bouquet of flowers in full bloom, the petals and textured flower heads worked in relief with a naturalistic finish. The handle is fitted to a slim white-metal collar above an ebonised hardwood shaft, tapering to a traditional cow horn ferrule. Length: 91cm.
Historical Note: Walking sticks with naturalistic carved handles were particularly popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian period, often reflecting the fashion for decorative motifs inspired by nature. The bouquet design of this piece makes it both functional and highly decorative, a fine example of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship.
*Condition* The handle displays light wear consistent with age, with some small age-related cracks but no significant losses. The shaft retains a good, even ebonised finish with minor surface scuffs, and the horn ferrule is well-preserved with expected signs of use. Overall, a decorative and characterful example in good antique condition.
