Large Bore Sport Percussion Musket, Likely Indian Made, dated 1872

*Original Large Bore Sport Percussion Musket, Likely Indian Made, dated 1872*

A very nice large bore, single barrel percussion musket with interesting markings. Fitted with a walnut stock with hand chequering and brass stock plate. Brass trigger guard, sling ring on the trigger guard, brass ramrod guard and brass nose cap. The heavy barrel is 29 1/4" inches long and is chambered in an 8 bore (approx). 45 1/4" total length. Full length ramrod. The stock is numbered 2079. The lock plate has the large crown cypher over VR though blurred engraving has made it closer to NR. On the other side of the trigger we can faintly determine the numbers 872 for 1872 over the letters TAW, the barrel is too heavily pitted to decipher any proof marks.

*Condition*
In good condition. Heavy pitting in parts. Cocks and dry-fires. The wood shows minor age related wear and tear but has a great patina. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
