~ Japanese Edo Period "Tetsu Sabiji Urushi Nuri Ressei" Half Mask ~
This well patinated iron half face mask has an aggressive nasal profile in the me-no-shita style. A large and well defined detachable nose-guard plate is attached above the lip with a large black full bodied moustache hanging over a smooth mouth aperture. The ears are of separate construction and riveted on. The three laminar neck guard is laced and hangs below the chin.
~ Dimensions ~
The mask has a width of 7 inches (17.8 cm), a depth of 7 inches (17.5cm) and a height of 8 inches (20.3 cm). The moustache has a length of 9.5 inches (24.1 cm). It weighs 482 g.
~ Condition~
The piece is in excellent condition. The only mention-able fault is a small crack underneath the right nostril.
