Approximate Measurements: 139.7cm (55") overall, 98.3cm barrel
Marked on Lock Plate: Queens Crown
Marked on Barrel: BK (PNU) V/72/74, 125

This is a Sporterized Sepoy percussion musket which has been modified from its original military configuration to be more suitable for hunting or target shooting. The Sepoy musket is a type of muzzle-loading firearm that was used by Indian soldiers during the 19th century.

The lock is marked with a Queens crown (used 1837-1901). The barrel is marked 125 and BK (PNU) V/72/74. There is no definitive guide to these markings. "BK" could be an abbreviation for Bhairabkunda in Nepal, a known site of production, however "PNU" could reference Peshawar, which was historically significant as a military and strategic hub in British India, and it housed several armories and facilities related to the production and maintenance of firearms for the British colonial forces. Equally if we read the U as a V it could stand for Peshawar Northern Victoria or Peshawar North Volunteers, referencing either a location or a military unit. "72/74" makes it likely that the musket was produced or inspected between 1872 and 1874. There are no other markings. This is a very decorative piece with a brass butt plate and brass decorative details around the trigger.
