*German, WW2, Waffen-SS Machine-Embroidered Sleeve Eagle (Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen), EM/NCO Pattern*

A World War II German Waffen-SS machine-embroidered sleeve eagle (Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen) executed in silver-grey thread upon black wool/felt backing. The insignia displays the characteristic Waffen-SS national eagle design with broad outstretched wings, compact body and wreath-enclosed emblem below, exhibiting the distinctive horizontal wing profile and sharply tapered feather arrangement associated with SS uniform insignia.

The construction appears of machine-embroidered manufacture rather than woven BeVo pattern production, with raised thread detail clearly visible throughout the eagle body and wings. The dimensions correspond closely with known enlisted men and non-commissioned officer sleeve eagles worn on Waffen-SS service uniforms and field blouses. Wartime regulations specified wear on the upper left sleeve, positioned approximately 16 cm below the shoulder seam.

Approx. Measurements – Width: 8.5 cm. Height: 3.9 cm.

History Note:
The sleeve eagle, known officially as the Ärmelhoheitsabzeichen, formed a standard component of Waffen-SS uniform insignia throughout the Second World War. While sharing the national eagle motif employed across German armed formations, the Waffen-SS pattern developed distinctive characteristics which differ from Heer examples, particularly in wing profile and feather arrangement. Such insignia served both as symbols of national identity and branch affiliation, appearing on a range of service and combat uniforms.

*Condition*
Displays age and handling wear throughout with minor edge fraying and light wear to embroidered thread areas. Appears removed from previous mounting or uniform backing with trimmed edges visible. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
