A rare German World War II thermite incendiary bomb Inert, with fin and tile breaker nose, the body stamped with various markings including the date. approx 34cm long and weighing only 2.2lb (1kg), to the uninitiated the standard incendiary bomb (IB) must have seemed the feeblest missile in the Luftwaffe’s armoury, but when the weapon was unleashed on Britain it caused fearsome fires which soon came to epitomise the Blitz. The ordnance even attained a nickname – Firebomb Fritz. They were dropped from various sized containers, holding up to 700 bombs each
