During the Third Reich period numerous blade manufacturers produced customized, private purchase versions of the K98 bayonets for dress wear. The dress bayonets were manufactured with a long model, (24.5cm), blade for enlisted personnel and a shorter, (20cm), blade for NCO’s and Officers.
Private purchase long model dress bayonet. 24.5cm long nickel/silver plated blade with wide fullers. Nice clean blade. Maker marked to E.u.F. Horster, Solingen. Black grooved bakelite grips held in place by two dome headed rivets. Magnetic sheet metal scabbard.
*Condition*
This dress bayonet is in good condition with some scratching to the ricasso on both sides, otherwise the blade is clean and sharp. There is some wear and tear to the grip but the button works well and the scabbard fits snugly. The black scabbard has some discolouration and minor rusting.
