*German, WW2, Iron Cross 2nd Class, 1939, with Ribbon, Very Good Condition*

A fine and original example of the iconic Second World War Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), complete with its full length ribbon. This medal is of textbook three-piece construction, featuring a magnetic iron core with crisp detail, set within a well-toned silver frame. The obverse displays the swastika above the date 1939, with the reverse showing the 1813 institution date.

History:
Re-instituted on 1 September 1939, the Iron Cross carried forward a tradition dating back to the Napoleonic Wars. The 2nd Class was awarded to front-line soldiers for gallantry in action or leadership under fire and was one of the most recognisable decorations of the Third Reich. It was worn by millions of soldiers across all branches of service, though surviving examples in such well-preserved condition with their original ribbons remain highly sought after by collectors.

*Condition*
This cross is presented in very good condition with strong presence. The blackened iron core remains magnetic and retains much of its original finish. The silvered frame shows attractive patina, highlighting the fine beading around the edges. The suspension ring is secure and correctly stamped with a maker’s code (faint from service wear), confirming authenticity. The ribbon is period original, showing some light staining and minor moth nips but remains strong and fully intact. Overall, an excellent and completely original example, with no repairs or replacements. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
