~ French WWI Helmet Guarde Plate ~

These steel plates were an ad-hoc issue for the French infantrymen of WW1 before the Adrian helmet became standard issue in 1915. It is basically a thick front skull cap with a nose protector.

~ Condition ~

The helmet is quite rusty.  The leather lining - though musty, and of some age - is probably a later replacement.

~ Dimensions ~

The helmet is 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) in length. It weighs 2.23 Kg.
